Welcome:

Dear Friends and Neighbors,

It is with great honor that I am writing to you as the Mayor of Fair Haven. The Borough Council and myself are always looking to move forward with projects that will to improve our town, and we invite all residents to participate with us to meet the challenges that we face.

There are many volunteer positions that fulfill the needs of our Borough, and although they are almost always full, I do not want to turn anyone away. If you have an interest in volunteering, please reach out to me and we’ll work together to find a place for you.

We are always striving to improve communications between the Borough government and the residents. To that end, we have made some changes to the Fair Haven Focus. We have saved a lot of money by going to an “on-line” version of the Focus. If you wish to have it mailed to your home, you may contact Borough Hall to arrange for that service at no cost to you. Most of us need the Focus for important dates, and you will be pleased to know that there is a comprehensive municipal calendar available as part of the Focus and as well as on the website itself .

I try to be as accessible as possible. If you wish to speak with me about any issue, you are welcome to make an appointment with me to talk. You can reach me at my law office, 732-530-5003 or by email at halflaw@comcast.net. You can also check my blog, http://fair-haven.blogspot.com/ for regular updates on what may be happening in town.

Thank You, and I’ll see you around town.

Mike Halfacre.

March Message:

The Borough Council and I are pleased to announce that there are two new faces in our Borough Hall. Our new Borough Administrator, Mary Howell, comes to us from the Township of Eastampton, in Burlington County, where she was the Assistant Township Manager. She brings us a strong financial background, with a wide range of administrative experience. We are very excited to welcome her to our great little town.

We have also hired a new Borough Clerk, Allyson Cinquegrana, who comes to us after serving as the Borough Clerk in Keyport, and as an Assistant or Deputy Clerk in Sea Bright. She is a life-long resident of Middletown, and her experience and familiarity with the area will be a big asset in her work here in Fair Haven.

Inside this issue are flyers for two events that need your support. You will find a flyer for the KDM Foundation’s Keith McHeffey 3-Mile Run on March 11 in Sea Bright. Keith was a graduate of Rumson-Fair Haven Regional High School who perished in the September 11 attack upon the World Trade Center. The KDM Foundation, organized by his friends in his memory, does good work with the funds that are raised in Keith’s name, and should be supported. We should keep the memory of all those lost that day alive, and this is an appropriate way to do it.

Also inside is a flyer for an event that should be supported or attended by everyone in town who has played on any of the fields at Fair Haven Fields, or ever walked through or drove by the natural area that is a centerpiece of our town. The Fair Haven Fields Advisory Committee is hosting a clean-up day on March 24 th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. to help maintain the natural area. The natural area is a tremendous asset of the town, and we should all support its maintenance.

We are also excited to launch our new website on or about March 1, 2007. Please check out all of its new features at www.fairhavennj.org.
