Police Department

Mission Statement

The mission of the Fair Haven Police Department is to serve and protect our community with respect, fairness, compassion and commitment to individual rights. We are an organization of professionals committed to providing the highest level of police services in a sensitive and positive manner to all, regardless of race, creed or lifestyle.

We will strive to provide the highest quality of service through active partnerships, community problem solving, and prevention of crime. We will anticipate and respond to the ever-changing needs of our community to preserve and enhance the “small-town charm” that Fair Haven possesses.

The badge is a symbol of public trust and we wear ours with great pride.

    Fairness
        Honesty
             Professionalism
                  Dedication

These are key words that we, as a Department, strive for each day as we carry out our mission.

Promoting Diversity in Law Enforcement Recruiting and Hiring
Pursuant to the December 2021 Attorney General Guideline “Promoting Diversity in Law Enforcement Recruiting and Hiring,” the Fair Haven Police Department is committed to doing all that we can to hire staff who reflect the community that we serve. See N.J.S.A.52:17B-4.10. 2021 Census Data indicates that Fair Haven Borough’s population is 94.2% White, 3% Black, 1.6% Hispanic, and 1% Asian.

As of December 31, 2021, the Fair Haven Police Department had 13 Officers: 92% were white, 8% were black, 0% Hispanic and 0% were Asian. Although our Diversity numbers are higher than the 2021 census data for Black officers, only 8% of our officers are women.

Through job fares, such as the outreach event held by the Monmouth County Chiefs of Police at Brookdale Community College on March 8th, and local community events, we will continue to strive to increase the number of female officers on staff and will enhance our efforts to seek diverse applicants to join our department.
