Message from the Office of Emergency Management

Dear Fair Haven Residents,

To say that the past 16 months for all of us have been challenging would be a great understatement. Through the course of the pandemic, Fair Haven had just over 500 residents test positive for COVID-19.  As of today’s writing we have 2 positive cases in town.  As we learned to navigate the ever changing landscape of the pandemic we were very fortunate to have kept our Covid-19 numbers relatively low compared to other towns within the county.  This is due to the conscientious, proactive and considerate actions of our amazing community.

Throughout the pandemic we learned the importance of good hygiene, social distancing, best safe health practices and adhering to guidance from local, county, state and federal health officials with the constantly evolving guidelines.  It’s hard to imagine that not very long ago, the basketball courts, playground equipment and benches in our towns parks were covered with barrier tape and fencing to keep people from using them.  This is just one example of the sacrifice and abundance of caution that we took as a community to proactively get ahead of this virus and keep our residents safe and healthy.

Our students missed graduations, proms, musicals, and sporting events.  There were no fireworks on the 4th of July and there was no Firemen’s Fair.  Throughout this difficult experience, the cooperation, unity, support and amazing generosity of our residents and businesses in town has been nothing short of spectacular.  We sacrificed as a community, we learned as a community, we shared as a community, we persevered as a community and now we can enjoy a beautifully safe and healthy summer as a community as we look forward to finishing 2021 on a strong, positive note.

Throughout the pandemic our volunteer fire department and first aid squad members never skipped a beat and continued to respond to every call for service and we could not be more grateful.  Hearing the news of the return of the 2021 Fair Haven Firemen’s Fair was a most encouraging and welcome sign that we are safely on our way back to a sense of normalcy for our community.  As the numbers of vaccinations increase and the number of positive cases decrease, we will remain vigilant but optimistic that the end of this pandemic is close at hand.

Thank you again for your continued support of our Office of Emergency Management, Police Department, First Aid and Fire Departments.

We hope that everyone has a great summer and enjoy every minute of it with family, friends and neighbors.
