2. BUSINESS ZONING AND REGISTRATION REQUIREMENTS
Any business that has a name change (thus signage change), change of ownership, sale of business, new tenant in an existing structure, etc. requires a ZONING PERMIT APPLICATION. The new owner must also provide an EXEMPT DEVELOPMENT WORKSHEET, which can be used to help facilitate the determination if the business qualifies as "Exempt Development" versus any business that might be more intensive that the one that they are replacing, which would require Site Plan Approval through the Planning Board.
The following is information regarding necessary documents needed to be completed regarding a business in the Borough of Fair Haven.
They include:
- ZONING APPLICATION - Zoning Permit Application – needed to ensure that the building that will be occupied has been approved for the use stated on the application. This will also initiate the Commercial Certificate of Occupancy.
- Along with the Zoning Application, a EXEMPT DEVELOPMENT WORKSHEET should be submitted. This worksheet is for both the Current / Prior use of the space, and the Proposed use of the space. Here is some of the information it includes:
- * Stated Use (refer to Table B)
* General hours of operation
* # of employees/contractors/etc.
* # of patrons / classes / class sizes, etc. per hour / day / etc.
* Signage - size, location, etc. (see attached information on Signs)
* Parking requirements - Table B – outlining the Permitted Uses in the Fair Haven Business Districts.
