Administrator
The Borough Administrator shall perform the executive responsibility of the municipality and shall supervise all heads of departments and direct the implementation of all policies, ordinances, rules and regulations as adopted by the Borough Mayor and Council.
Borough Administrator, Christopher York, started his career in Government 31 years ago as a seasonal Department of Public Works employee in 1993 in Rumson. in 1995 he came to Fair Haven at the age of 17 to work as a Dispatcher and Special Police Officer. He left Fair Haven in 1997 to work for the Rumson Police Department holding the ranks of Patrolman, Sergeant, Lieutenant and Captain. He retired from a successful career in Law Enforcement in 2024. On July 1st, 2024, Chris was officially appointed the Borough Administrator of Fair Haven.
Chris has extensive training in leadership, public administration and management. He worked for many years as an Undergraduate and Graduate professor at Monmouth University, Fairleigh Dickinson University, and Brookdale Community College where he taught Public Administration and Criminal Justice. He is also a Senior Instructor with the New Jersey Police Training Commission at the Monmouth County Police Academy.
Chris has a master's degree in administrative science/public administration from Fairleigh Dickinson and a second master's degree as an Educational Specialist/Ed.S from Seton Hall University. He also received certificate as a Certified Public Manager from the State of New Jersey Department of Personnel. Chris has lectured on leadership, organizational change, and municipal government for many institutions.
He is a graduate of the FBI Mid Atlantic Law Enforcement Executives Development Seminar at Princeton University and received the Trilogy Leadership Award from FBI LEEDA in 2018. In 2024 Chris has the honor of graduating from the New Jersey Chief's of Police West Point Command and Leadership Academy.
Chris received a Knighthood from the Duke Dom Duarte of Portugal and a Royal Honor from Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II of England as Member of the Order of St. John.
