IMPORTANT SAFETY MESSAGE FROM MAYOR HALPERN AND CHIEF JOE MCGOVERN

IMPORTANT SAFETY MESSAGE FROM MAYOR HALPERN AND CHIEF JOE MVGOVERN

Message from Police Chief McGovern:

Many Fair Haven residents are aware of the alarming number of car thefts in our area, which are occurring at all hours of the day and night. This is a statewide issue. I can assure you that the Fair Haven Police Department, Mayor and Council are working with County and State law enforcement agencies to attempt to combat this issue. Fortunately, no one has been injured during these crimes.

Message from Mayor Halpern:

First and foremost, the safety of our residents is paramount.  Echoing the words of Chief McGovern, rest assured that we are doing everything we can to prevent crime within our Borough. While Fair Haven remains one of the safest towns in the County, we are not immune from crime.  I am asking everyone to please lock your vehicles and homes, and remember not to leave key fobs or other valuables inside cars.

The New Jersey Attorney General set forth new guidelines as part of an updated vehicular pursuit policy which took effect in December 2021. If you are concerned about limits on law enforcement's ability to apprehend these offenders, I would encourage you to contact The Office of the Attorney General:
