A Message from Mayor Lucarelli

A Message from Mayor Lucarelli

June 12, 2020

These are very trying times we are living through with the pandemic and the social unrest throughout the country.  I truly hope that all your families, neighbors, co-workers and friends are all staying safe and connected.  The health, wellbeing and safety of our residents continues to be of utmost importance.

At our Council Meeting this week,

o   The entire Governing Body collectively demonstrated their support against racism and social injustice
o   Unanimously approved the Resolutions to help Fair Haven’s small businesses with their re-opening during Phase 2

  • These Resolutions will enable:
  • Allowing outdoor eating for restaurants which expands their footprint
  • The use of Fair Haven’s Parks for Exercise and Fitness Businesses
  • Sidewalk Sales for all Retail Businesses
  • Thank you to Councilwomen Sorensen and Koch for drafting, supporting and introducing these Resolutions

o   Some Committee Members were appointed to the new Brush Grinding Site Sub-Committee, and I am looking forward to appointing a few more.  Please contact Councilmembers Rodriguez and Koch if you have questions, suggestions or would like to be on the committee.

I would like to remind everyone that we are ALL residents of this wonderful community – those of us that have been elected to positions, whether it is the Board of Education or Council, or if we have been appointed to a Committee, Board or Commission – we are dedicated public servants volunteering our time and efforts for a common goal!!  It has truly saddened my heart that there has been a lot of misinformation that has created divisiveness in our community.   While our views may vary, we all have the best interests of Fair Haven in mind.  So please, keep this in mind and instead of criticizing or attacking these volunteers, thank them.  We are all willing to work with the residents – regardless of the issue.  Every decision has to take into account these factors – which do not and should not include politics – EVER:

o   Is this decision for the good of ALL Fair Haven’s residents?
o   What is the tax implication to the residents of Fair Haven?
o   Is this decision Financially Sound?
o   Is this decision sustainable - not just today but for 5, 10, 25 years out?

While we all have to remain mindful of social distancing – please remember to support our local businesses as Fair Haven moves forward with Phase 2 of re-opening.  We all have to remain vigilant in keeping everyone safe, especially our most vulnerable.

Have a great weekend and as always, you can find additional information on the Borough’s website or feel free to email/call me.

Warm regards,
Mayor Ben Lucarelli
